These figures speak for themselves: In 2006, 6,203 students graduated in engineering at a TU9 university. This figure represents 54 percent of all engineering degrees taken in Germany in that year. At the other universities, 5,303 students successfully completed their engineering degrees.
In the same year, 1,156 scientists received their doctorates in engineering at TU9 universities, some 59 percent of the total for that year.
According to the Federal Statistical Office, a total of 1,974,932 students were registered at German universities in winter semester 2006/7. Currently some 204,000 students are registered at TU9 universities (all subjects), i.e. some 10 percent of all students in Germany.
