The school combines three aspects:
- 1. Metrology, as an interdisciplinary field with a common, rigorous methodology, determines the curriculum and scientific programme.
- 2. Metrology aims at international harmonization and hence IGMS has a pronounced international approach.
- 3. Braunschweig is the place to be for the IGSM: On the one hand, TU Braunschweig offers a strong metrology-related research focus. On the other hand, the PTB, Europe’s largest and internationally leading national metrology institute, is located in the vicinity.
The research areas of the Graduate School are open to students from all scientific areas with a strong link to metrology. If you have a master's or equivalent degree in engineering, the natural sciences etc., you are welcome to apply for a PhD position at IGSM.
Graduating successfully from Braunschweig International Graduate School of Metrology will qualify you for both an academic as well as an industrial career. You will be supported with an individually developed career plan and profit from many contacts to industry and research institutions. Furthermore, an international advisory board provides the IGSM with expertise from various international research areas.
