TU Braunschweig: Galileo
From the year 2008 the European positioning and navigation system, Galileo, will be available alongside the existing navigation system, GPS. In contrast to GPS and GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System), Galileo will be a civil system with a service guarantee. The need for certification associated with this, in particular in the field of safety-critical applications, means many expert's reports and tests have to be undertaken. This is where the core competences of Braunschweig Research Airport come in. The resident firms and institutions are distinguished by many years of experience in the field of safety-critical applications for air traffic as well as for ground traffic. In close cooperation with industry and research institutions, Braunschweig Research Airport, has proved itself to be a European test center working on feasibility, verification, validation and certification, in particular in the field of safety-critical traffic applications.
