International “Stammtisch” of the Akademisches Auslandsamt (AAA) - International Students Office

The international “Stammtisch” , a regular meeting of people with similar interests, occurs some Fridays starting at 6pm in Café Campus.

Buddy Program at the TU Berlin

The Buddy Program is an operation of the Akademisches Auslandsamt (AAA) - International Students Office - of the TU Berlin. With this operation, exchange students who come to Berlin within the frame of Erasmus/ Socrates and other exchange programs are supported. Above all in the first few days or weeks of the semester, the exchange students can use someone to lend a helping hand. The AAA organizes this help, in that engaged volunteer students are put to work. The AAA arranges pairs with one exchange student and one volunteer Berlin student. In order to bring together appropriate pairs, the data (language, country, degree program) from the sign-up forms are used.

Zentrum für Internationale und Interkulturelle Kommunikation (ZIIK) - Center for International and Intercultural Communication

The ZIIK [German only] offers German and international students a platform in which to deal with international and intercultural questions of intercultural communications.


The focal points of the ZIIK are:

  • Personal and subject-oriented advice and support for international students (academic advising, development of individual study schedules, propädeutic courses, subject mentoring and intercultural events)
  • Teaching offerings with international and intercultural relevance, IKT- related topics, for example also an introductory seminar in academic writing for international students
  • Advising for final theses and for topics of classes
  • Expansion of the cooperations with German and international academic institutions as well as with businesses in order to improve the intercultural dialog, to strengthen the exchange between students and lecturers and to expand the already existing national and international networks.

The organization “Betreuung für internationale Studierende“ - “Support for International Students”

The work group “Betreuung für internationale Studierende“ [german only] - “Support for International Students” - gives advice and support services of different types to ease the beginning of studies and to overcome study-related, social visa problems.


Among their services are:

  • Organization of orientation events for newly registered students at the beginning of every semester
  • Academic advising
  • Scholarship support program
  • Opportunities for excursions and company tours  when desired, visa extensions
  • after a personal discussion, arrangement of private housing
  • publication of the brochure "Information for international students"
