The e-learning center

Darmstadt University of Technology (TUD) is on the way to a Dual Mode University and has bundled up the competence necessary in the e-learning centre (elc).
The elc forms the technical, didactic and administrative framework conditions of e-Learning on a wide base. It gives impulses and contributions to a configuration oriented to future of the teaching process making use of the new media.

The tasks:

• development of the Dual Mode Vision
• development and implementation of incentive systems and quality assurance instruments for the application of e-learning
• choice and consulting for the use of one or several Learning Management System and other e-learning tools.
• training of the teachers as well as web-based personal support for the used tools in the areas Augmented and Telemedia Teaching (e.g., LMS, digital auditorium).
• sequential documentation of the digital contents provided within the TUD.

The elc covers with its working areas all spheres of activity which are necessary to institutionalize e-learning in the TUD with lasting effect and develop in the following areas:

• Telemedia Learning: technical and didactic support of the learning arrangements which facilitate the learning irrespective of time and place.
• Augmented Learning: technical and didactic support of learning arrangements, which support learning and teaching during the presence lectures.
• E-Learning Evaluation: formative and summative evaluation of e-learning applications
• E-Learning Labelling: development of a label "e-learning" and a quality seal for computer-based learning arrangements
