The TU Darmstadt manages academic cooperations on the basis of contracts with more than 100 partner universities all over the world. It offers students exchange programs and double degree programs with numerous partner universities; additionally, the TUD is connected in different European networks (CESEAR, TIME, CLUSTER, EUA). The introduction of Bachelor and Master degree programs will be completed in core fields by the end of 2007. Beyond the managing rules, the TUD binds itself to guarantee the study success of students within its autonomy process in §1 paragraph 2 of the TUD laws. The target group for the TUD is students who would like to quickly and successfully complete their studies, who study in a goal oriented way, and who would like to accurately inform themselves and take part in the educational experience. The TU Darmstadt strives for a student success quota of over 80 %.
21,000 students currently study at the TU Darmstadt; out of this 4,000 are international students. Their portion has risen in the last ten years from 10.9 % to 20 %. With this, the TUD lies far over the German university average of 13 %. The international students come from over 100 countries; from this, the largest groups are from China, Turkey and Bulgaria.
With different programs and service institutions like the “TUD Experience”, study accompanying programs, and the Buddy Program among others, the TUD does its part so that students passionately and successfully complete their studies – in a lively city that, with its first class music locations, has earned interregional respect.
