In addition, the TU Dresden continuously proves its research competence in numerous undertakings by the German Research Society and in outside-funded research projects initiated by both the public and the private sector. In the German Excellence Initiative the TU Dresden was to be awarded funding for a graduate school, the "Dresden International Graduate School for Biomedicine and Bioengineering", and a cluster of excellence, namely the cluster "From Cells to Tissues to Therapies".
