TUM features a strong, characteristic profile in the fields of Science and Engineering. Alongside the traditional key areas addressed by Technical Universities, powerful links have been also established with the Life Sciences, ranging from Nutrition and Food Sciences, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics to Medicine. Much of our innovative research and teaching has emerged from collaborations between the disciplines. Our 12 faculties cover Mathematics and the Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry), Business & Economics, Engineering (Mechanical, Civil and Geodetic Engineering, Architecture, Computational Science), Medicine and the Weihenstephan Science Center for Life & Food Science (including Biology).
