The Studentenwerk München – together with Dresden, the oldest Studentenwerk – celebrated in 1995 its 75th anniversary.

The field of support of a Studentenwerk includes multiple academic institutions and usually also multiple university locations. Such is the Studentenwerk München, according to the decree of Bavarian Studentenwerke, responsible for a total of 14 academic institutions with about 92,000 students in 4 locations in a radius of about 80 km around Munich.

The assignments of the Studentenwerk München include, among other things:

• Running the dining halls
• Student housing
• Child day care
• Advisory Network
• Culture

As a special offer, the Studentenwerk München has a service package available for international students. It is recommended to register early because, although the demand is enormous, there are only a limited number of packages. The services of the service package include:

• Furnished room in a residence hall of the Studentenwerk
• Support through tutors
• Participation in different events of the tutors (like concert visits, theater visits, excursions)
