Organisation/Structure

TU9 was created in 2003 as an informal discussion group of university presidents. On 26 January 2006 the nine member universities joined together to found an association.

TU9 President is Prof. Dr.- Ing. Ernst M. Schmachtenberg, President of RWTH Aachen,
Vice President is Prof. Dr. Hans Jürgen Prömel, President of TU Darmstadt.

 

Further TU9 members are

TU Berlin, represented by the President, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jörg Steinbach,

TU Braunschweig, represented by the President, Prof. Dr.Jürgen Hesselbach,

TU Dresden, represented by the Rector, Prof. Hermann Kokenge,

Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), represented by the President, Professor Dr.sc.tech. Horst Hippler,

Leibniz Universität Hannover, represented by the President, Professor Dr. Erich Barke,

TU München, represented by the President, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Wolfgang A. Herrmann,

Universität Stuttgart, represented by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Wolfram Ressel.

 

In June 2006 TU9 opened an office in Berlin; Executive Secretary is Venio Piero Quinque.

 

The role of the TU9 office is to

 

• facilitate cooperation between the member universities

• co-ordinate press and public relations

• maintain contacts to decision makers from politics, industry and society and

• to further develop the international marketing of TU9
